In the heart of Prey Wang Village, Pursat province, Vy Che, a 59-year-old widow, shares her transformative journey:
As a mother of five, I faced the heavy task of raising my children alone after my husband passed away twelve years ago. Fulfilling the role of mother and father was a constant struggle, especially as a farmer managing a modest rice field. Despite the challenges, I persevered, even though some of my children migrated to Thailand and other parts of the country in search of better opportunities.
My husband’s prolonged illness drained the family’s resources, leaving us in poverty. I dreamt of raising animals to support my family, but financial constraints made this impossible. However, a turning point came in 2016 when Fountain of Hope (FOH) introduced the gospel to my community. Inspired by their message, I embraced Christianity, beginning a new chapter in my life.
My newfound faith brought about profound changes. I participated in a Life of Hope training, which deepened my understanding of God and the Our Strong Village program, which equipped me with practical skills like vegetable farming, animal husbandry, and soap making. FOH gifted me a bull, which I sold to support my family. Since knowing God and believing in Him, God has given me strength.
The impact of these programs has been life-changing for my family. Not only have we experienced spiritual growth with weekly Bible studies and prayers, but we have also seen tangible improvements in our quality of life. We have awareness and have avoided the perils of drug addiction, and our economic situation has improved. I am happy and have hope. Thank God and FOH for bringing us to know Jesus!
